Great pic of one of my fave characters from DC. And yeah,I agree they need to bring this version of Shade back again,he was very exciting,and I never cared much for the vertigo version at all. However,I did read that the ditko shade did make a cameo appearance in a recent issue of JSA a few years back. Can't quite recalle which issue though I need to track it down.

Oh yeah,I also made some sketches of Shade as well,check these out.

I never cared for the vertigo one, the jacket just annoyed me. Nice sketches dude, keep it up.

Thanks man,I intend to keep it up. And yeah,that jacket he wore looked plenty stupid as did his hair and everything else about him. He looked and acted more like a warped version of DR WHO than Rac Shade. What was Peter milligan thinking?

I have no idea what Peter Milligan was thinking. I tried reading that series I just couldn't.

Are the sketchy orange lines of his altering reality your pencil lines or a digital addition?
I like the contrast with the clean inked lines.

pencil lines yeah. On gimp I've known how to color the inks like that but not in photoshop when I had it. It looks super cool though I thought, glad you agree.

Nice!

As you might already know Shade is of my favorites. Another one of those crazy ass 70s characters of course. Actually my opinion is that this is for Ditko what New Gods was for Kirby in that it's the Pop Art work they started in the 60s come to fruition as full-on Pop Surrealism in the 70s. Great comic run by one of the most influential comic artists of our time.

I think at the end of the day, Ditko and Kirby are the two greatest comic book designers of all time. I fully agree with you that this and New gods were the crescendo of what they had been working towards all towards the sixties in marvel. Its a shame Ditko's stuff is not nearly as praised and adored as Kirby's but that might be a little by his own design. Thanks.
